Home Win Betting Explained

A home win bet, the "1" in the 1X2 market, wins if the home team is ahead at the end of 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A draw or an away win loses the bet. Extra time and penalty shootouts do not count.

Home advantage

Teams have traditionally won more often at home than away, thanks to familiar surroundings, crowd support and no travel. The size of that advantage varies a lot between leagues and teams, and some sides perform much better at home than on the road.

Odds and probability

Home win prices range from very short for a strong favourite to long for an underdog. Odds of 1.50 imply a probability of about 67%; odds of 2.40 imply about 42%. Short-priced home favourites still drop points regularly, and a draw is enough to lose this bet.

What to look at before backing a home win

  • The home team's recent results at home specifically, not just overall form.
  • The away team's record on the road.
  • Head-to-head results between the two clubs.
  • Motivation, fixture congestion and team news.

Reducing the risk

If you like the home side but fear a draw, double chance 1X covers both outcomes at a shorter price. Draw no bet, where offered by your bookmaker, returns your stake if the match is drawn.

How to read our home win tips

Each tip shows the odds, the implied probability and recent form for both teams, so you can compare home favourites across leagues at a glance.

Common questions

Does a home win include extra time? No. Only the result after 90 minutes plus stoppage time counts.

What if the match is played at a neutral venue? The team listed first is still treated as the home side for betting purposes, even without real home advantage.

Is a big home favourite a safe single? No bet is safe. Strong favourites still draw or lose regularly, and very short prices return little when they do win.

Please bet responsibly. Only stake what you can afford to lose, never chase losses, and remember that betting is for adults aged 18 and over.
